Music is in Andy's blood. He was a professional performer long before he built companies, and in many ways he always has been.
The journey
Andy is the son of a third-generation professional musician: his father a renowned trumpet player, an Australian champion at just 13, and an accomplished bass player. Growing up surrounded by that craft, Andy took to it early, picking up the piano with ease before developing his voice and the clarinet.
The talent showed quickly. By 13 he was consistently winning local and district competitions for performance. In his teens he found theatre and became a regular in local musicals and stage productions, as at home in front of an audience as he was at a keyboard. At 17 his ability earned him a place at the prestigious Queensland Conservatorium of Music, though the pull of the stage proved stronger than the classroom, and he left to launch his professional career.
Through the 1990s he became one of the most in-demand resident musicians across Australia and New Zealand, holding sought-after residencies at some of the region's best-loved venues. His live reputation was built on sheer energy, high-octane shows that earned an honourable mention several years running in the famous Party Goers Guide to the Planet during his residency at the world-renowned Beaches Bar in Airlie Beach.

The Funkwits, made new
Through the mid-to-late 1990s and early 2000s, much of Andy's time went into the recording studio with his band, The Funkwits, laying down original material. Those recordings have found new life. He has been digitising the old analog tapes and applying his AI expertise to regenerate and reimagine them, turning decades-old songs into something fresh and full of new possibility.
These days most of his musical time is spent in the digital home studio he built, recording new material and breathing new life into old songs, made new again. And he still can't resist a piano, happily jumping on to play for friends and family whenever the moment calls.
